The University of New Haven has launched an engineer-in-residence program to prepare students for careers at Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., Fairfield County’s largest employer.
The Stratford-based helicopter manufacturer is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. of Hartford.
The university will select four students to work in the office on a part-time basis each semester under the tutelage of Sikorsky engineers, who include Tom Ferrazzi, engineering information-technology infrastructure manager; Nancy Held-Sheehe, a UNH graduate who is an airframe design engineer; Brian McCabe, technical fellow for avionics at Sikorsky and an adjunct professor at UNH; Theodora Saunders, manager in the system engineering process group at Sikorsky and adjunct professor at UNH, and Al-Rahim Williams, a UNH graduate who is a senior avionics system engineer.
The university is renovating an office to give it the feel of an office at Sikorsky.
