Arch Chemicals Inc. is acquiring Advantis Technologies Inc., a pool-water treatment business owned by Rockwood Holdings Inc., for $130 million.

Alpharetta, Ga.-based Advantis had $71 million in revenue last year, and $12 million in earnings before accounting for the impact of interest, taxes, depreciation and other expenses. Advantis has 160 employees.

At last report, Norwalk-based Arch had 2,670 employees. The company employs more than 400 more workers on a seasonal basis in its own pool-water sanitization business, which had $192 million in revenue in the second quarter. Arch also sells chemicals for personal care products, biocides and wood coatings, producing a $33 million profit in the second quarter on total sales of $470 million, up 4 percent from a year earlier.

Arch said it expects the Advantis deal to result in pre-tax savings of $6 million annually due to unspecified integration moves.
