After considering a relocation to Westchester County, N.Y., General Reinsurance Corp. is accepting a massive state package to maintain its headquarters in Stamford.
A subsidiary of Omaha, Neb.-based Berkshire Hathaway, General Re employs more than 800 people in Stamford. Currently located at 695 E. Main St. in Stamford, Gen Re is moving to a 300,000-square-foot building at 120 Long Ridge Road, which is currently occupied by General Electric Co. GE plans to move that office to 800 Long Ridge Road, the former Xerox Corp. headquarters.
The company is receiving a $9 million loan from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development to ready its new headquarters. The company will also be eligible for up to $22 million in tax credits.
New digs for Robinson & Cole
Robinson & Cole L.L.P. signed a lease for 50,000 square feet of space at 1055 Washington Blvd., moving into offices once occupied by Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker L.L.P.
Robinson & Cole is currently located at 695 E. Main St. in Stamford where it employs 40 attorneys.
The owner of 1055 Washington Blvd. is SL Green Realty Corp.
Norwalk to Stamford for Drum
Drum Capital Management L.L.C. is relocating its office from Norwalk to Stamford, where it is leasing 12,000 square feet of space at Four Stamford Plaza, owned by RFR Holding L.L.C. Founded in 2005 by Scott Vollmer and Craig White, who reportedly carved a $350 million distressed debt and turnaround fund out of La Jolla, Calif.-based Pacific Corporate Group L.L.C., subsequently raising a second $435 million fund. The company is currently located in the Lock Building at 18 Marshall St. in South Norwalk, and was represented by Cushman & Wakefield.
