A woman was sentenced to five years in prison for embezzling $15 million from a Greenwich real estate firm where she worked and funneling the money to her husband’s construction company in New York.
Ilona Muldoon, a former resident of Chappaqua, N.Y., who now lives in Abbeville, S.C., pleaded guilty to embezzling from Bourke and Matthews Management Co. Inc. and other B&M entities.
Her husband Theodore J. Muldoon III was the owner of Hudson Canyon Construction Inc. of Millwood, N.Y., whose projects have included a Lowe’s Home Center in Newburgh, N.Y., and dredging at Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.
According to U.S. Attorney Kevin O’Connor, Muldoon admitted to preparing checks that were signed by B&M’s owner, then deposited the checks to cover expenses racked up by the couple and Hudson Canyon Construction.
