It’s the Great Recession and it’s tough to get a good job. So, start your own company.

That is the advice of the two entrepreneurial founders of Under30CEO.com, a web site and evolving online magazine devoted to the business and living needs of business people under 30 years of age.

Jared O’Toole and Matt Wilson, both 23 and recent college graduates, are doing it their way, they say, but rejecting the norms of the rat race and going for what they want to achieve as their own boss and boss of their own life.

“Our tag line is, ‘Live the dream,’” said O’Toole. “And basically what we hope to inspire people to do is not settle for a job you’re not happy with and a path you are not happy with. You have to figure out what you want in life and go after that. You have to be able to make it happen and we hope to guide young professionals down that road.”

O'Toole graduated from Ithaca College in May 2008 with a B.S. in finance. Wilson graduated from Bryant University, also in May 2008, with a B.S. in business management. Close friends since childhood, they both reside in Hopewell Junction.

  1. I stumbled upon the Under30CEO website quite by accident one day and read one of their articles. I've been quite impressed by the site and the owners. I've commented on a couple of their articles and one of the most remarkable things about it is that the owners do keep up with the comments and make replies. It's very interactive in that way and they both deserve a thumps up!
  2. Looking sharp, yet casual - the hallmark of our generation. You guys know what big fans me and my team are of your work. In your own words: "Stop doing sh*t you hate!" Never stop inspiring us! - Pete Kistler CEO, Brand-Yourself.com
