Supporters of the United Way of Dutchess County were in the Halloween spirit when they donned their costumes for the organization’s lunch and report on its capital campaign at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel Friday, Oct. 30. To date, the nonprofit United Way has received $812,661 in donations, 47 percent of its $1.7 million 2009 campaign goal for Dutchess County. Funds raised during the campaign help county residents receive services from more than 30 United Way-funded programs.
St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie hosted a meet-the-candidates forum for the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, prior to the elections last week. Incumbent Comptroller Diane Jablonski and her challenger Jim Coughlan addressed the audience. Among the guests at the Oct. 23 breakfast:
The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Showcase of Champions at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel, Oct. 14. With nearly 100 vendors participating, in the business expo, many queued up for the chamber’s annual Chef Showcase, where local restaurateurs have an opportunity to give the audience a taste of their culinary artwork.
