Since opening in October 2009, Orange County’s Business Accelerator is on a quest to seed its 10,000 square feet of space in New Windsor’s International Plaza business park with lots of green businesses.

The goal is not only to attract eco-friendly tech startups or expansions, but eventually to see the incubated businesses venture out within Orange County to open new offices and create jobs.

The accelerator (OCBA) offers all the amenities a startup or expansion-minded business needs at a reasonable rent. The return on investment for the county and its Industrial Development Agency is more jobs created within the county’s borders.

The 10,000 square foot flex space offers Class A, research and development space and manufacturing space that will be built to suit with common areas, plus a shared conference space with teleconferencing available. An added benefit is the opportunity to apply for funding through the county’s Industrial Development Agency.

The maximum stay for any business “hatching” in the incubator is three years. By that time, said James Petro, chairman of the IDA and Michael DiTullo, the incubator’s managing director, they should be “more than ready to go out and become a stand-alone business.”
